On October 25, 1939, when Clarence A. Olsen and his associates drove their trucks to their new place of business in Elyria, Ohio, a gallon of gas cost a dime.
By early 1940, they were making efficient coal and gas warm-air furnaces to meet the demand for reliable, affordable heating equipment. Two years later, they were a top ten producer among 300 competitors. Luxaire® continued to grow during World War II, providing heating products for 60% of all U.S. Army barracks.
Times changed. In 1954, Luxaire hit the market with furnaces and air conditioners that promised “luxurious” comfort to millions of veterans buying their first home. Download the

On August 2, 1965, the original name of the company was changed to Luxaire, Inc. Finally in 2005, the Luxaire brand became part of the Johnson Controls Company, a Fortune 500 firm committed to making indoor environments comfortable.
Today, times have changed again. And so has the price of energy. But one thing remains the same—Luxaire’s commitment to making folks feel good. Today, you get more product choices to fit the needs and budget of every kind of homeowner. And our partnership with the Make-A-Wish® Foundation helps you stand out in your community by making the world a better place one sale at a time. With enduring values like that, it’s no wonder Luxaire is still giving good feelings today.
