NORMAN, OKLA. – (June 30, 2010) – The Luxaire® brand of residential and light-commercial heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) equipment announced today that it has donated $225,000 this year to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of America.
Luxaire donated $200,000 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in 2009 and will contribute $250,000 in 2011 as part of a three-year commitment to the national organization.
“We’re extremely proud to be affiliated with the largest wish-granting organization in the world – the Make-A-Wish Foundation,” said Mary Mocarski, Luxaire brand manager. “We’re excited about the opportunities these funds will provide, granting wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.”
The Make-A-Wish Foundation will allocate the $225,000 donation to local chapters in each region on behalf of Luxaire distributors.
The alliance between Luxaire and the Make-A-Wish Foundation began in 2001 and has resulted in donations exceeding $1.95 million. The Luxaire network of distributors and dealers also works with Make-A-Wish chapters to organize a variety of fundraising activities, including raffles, golf outings and activities associated with local sporting events, both amateur and professional. Using money raised by these and other fundraising activities, Luxaire has helped grant the wishes of more than 80 children in dealer markets.
“Our Make-A-Wish affiliation is a win-win situation for Luxaire, our distributors and dealers throughout the United States,” Mocarski added.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Founded in 1980 when a group of caring volunteers helped a young boy fulfill his dream of becoming a police officer, the Foundation is now the largest wish-granting charity in the world, with 65 chapters in the United States and its territories. With the help of generous donors and nearly 25,000 volunteers, the Make-A-Wish Foundation grants a wish every 40 minutes and has granted more than 188,000 wishes in the United Sates since its inception.
