MILWAUKEE – (July 15, 2011) – The Luxaire® brand from Johnson Controls, the global leader in delivering solutions that increase energy efficiency in buildings, brings 16 SEER efficiency to the Acclimate™ Series of air conditioners.
The Acclimate 16 SEER/13 EER unit also introduces MicroChannel coil technology to Luxaire’s premium product offering and includes the next generation of tube and alloy advancements. These generation changes will provide improved performance in heat transfer and durability. First introduced in 2006, MicroChannel technology has proven itself with nearly a million units operating in the field.
A control board that is compatible with the new Luxaire Acclimate Residential Communicating Control further enhances the efficiency of the 16 SEER unit. This revolutionary new control communicates with all key components in a home comfort system, providing total system integration that ensures maximum system efficiency and homeowner comfort while equipping contractors with a reliable, distinctive tool to increase profits and build their business.
Contractors will also appreciate a 2- to 5-ton capacity range that includes both 2.5- and 3.5-ton units to meet any system application. All units in the range qualify for 2011 tax credits as defined by the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010. Passed last December, this law extends the tax credits of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act into 2010, but at lower levels. The Acclimate 16 SEER meets the efficiency requirements for a $300 tax credit. When installed with an eligible coil/furnace/air handler combination, the entire system may qualify for the maximum credit of $500.
Acclimate 16 SEER units are easy to install and service. A full-end, full-service access panel with a handle provides installers and service technicians easy access to internal components, and a slide-down control compartment and angled service valves further reduce installation time and costs.
A number of other features make the 16 SEER unit attractive to contractors and homeowners:
• Luxaire’s unique SilentDrive™ system combines a swept-wing fan, composite base pan, isolated compressor compartment, electronically controlled fan motor and single-stage compressor in a system engineered to reduce overall sound to a mere whisper.
• A stylish stamped decorative metal coil and a polymer mesh protects integral components such as coils and compressors and the cabinet’s automotive quality finish provides additional protection from harmful ultraviolet rays and rust creep.
• Acclimate 16 SEER air conditioners use environmentally friendly R-410A refrigerant and are ENERGY STAR® qualified.
